About me

Hi, I’m Meghan. I’m a violinist who performs and teaches in New York City and the surrounding areas. I dreamt about doing this for nearly my whole life. But I didn’t take a straightforward path to get here.

There’s so much that I love about life and learning that I studied various subjects to consider different careers. At one point, I thought that I would be a journalist, and I was very interested in Romance languages and literature. (It’s possible that I watched too much Gilmore Girls and too many teen travel movies in the early 2000s.) But music kept drawing me back.

Now, I love performing in many settings and genres, and I love bringing joy to students through lessons that honor diverse interests. Below, you can find my formal bio, or scroll further down to read more about my specialized teaching philosophy and methods.

My teaching

To many, music lessons can seem daunting. Perhaps you learned an instrument as a child and it was ultra-competitive, or you felt like you were always being forced to practice. And now, you want your child to grow up with music, but you want it to be different. Then you’ve come to the right place.

I believe that music can be a holistic and fulfilling part of every person’s life. Yes, instrumental lessons require commitment and dedication. But I envision a world in which all who play music have a healthy relationship with their instrument. I want my students to be able to carry music throughout their lives with agency and joy.

Together, my students and I achieve this through:

  • Manageable and clear practice schedules, including weekly check-ins

  • Transparency about goals and what it takes to achieve them

  • Student-selected pieces/songs in any genre at every level, alongside strong technical work and standard repertoire
